Our production continues to move on at a steady speed and we have successfully completed significant parts such as cases, wood, and copper pieces. Now, there are small details left to check before putting the pieces onto an assembly.
The first batch of Pavilions is scheduled to ship by the end of upcoming November and Pavilions should arrive before the Christmas. We may not be able to ship every Pavilion at once because we are tight on schedule. We plan to ship them on a daily basis as much as Pavilions come off from the assembly table. Hope you understand.
Once we are ready to ship your Pavilion, you will receive a confirmation email of your pledge reward and a shipping address. After you confirm it, you will receive a second email with the shipment information and a tracking number.
Now, we would like to share the progress that we have made past few weeks.
INJECTION TOOLING MODIFICATION + CASES COMPLETE
Our first and second injections of mechanical parts had some quality problems. Some dimensions were inaccurate and few surface finishes were unsatisfactory from our view. We tried to pull this off with the least modification possible and optimizing the injection conditions for the perfect piece. And finally, last week we received the boxes of completed cases. These boxes will be prepared for the production.
CONCRETE MATERIAL CHANGE
This was a tough decision our team made. We have decided to change the concrete mix and scrapped all the concrete base stocks. There are couple of reasons for this decision, but the most important reason was for our health. Previously, we have been using an eco-friendly mix used in regular buildings. However, eco-friendly doesn't mean it's also friendly to people. Regular construction concrete, which we first used, contains asbestos, not good for you, and fumes lots of formaldehyde, also not good for you. Since Pavilion will mostly be inside a house, we stopped producing the base with the old mix. Fortunately, we successfully sourced a new customized mix by FOSROC which is certified by U.S Green Building Council and WRAS. It doesn't contain asbestos and have formaldehyde emission rate under 0.005 ㎎/㎡•h (around 0.0000000164 once/ft² •h) Our new concrete base is both friendly to us and the nature.
Our first board had some problem with the heat from the chips. We had to change some schematics and parts to lower the temperature to a safe level. We got the latest prototype board and power test went well. We plan to produce the final boards with the Bluetooth 4.2 IC.
OAK TOP AND OTHER DETAILS
Carved oak top fits nicely. We adjusted the level of capacitive sensor so it operates perfectly on the oak top. Oak top is now under mass production stage. The copper decoration pieces are ready and there will be one last polishing stage to go. Rubber parts are also complete and all set for an assembly.
Rigid paper shoulder-type box with foam protection will secure your Pavilion during the delivery. The finished packages are on the way to the warehouse. Can’t wait to see all the packages to be packed with the Pavilion speaker.
UNIVERSAL ADAPTER AND AUX CABLE
We have a great news for our international backers. Previous adapter required you to get a converter for your country voltage. We thought it would be inconvenient and lacks responsibility to our international backers, so we have decided to change the old adapter to universal adapter. Now the adapter can switch it to US, EU, AU and UK plug and be used nearly every country in the world. The finely designed AUX cable will allow you to directly connect your device to the speaker.
We would like to apologize again for the delay and inconvenience caused to you. Pavilion is now one step away from the door to life. We will give our last push on the production to assure the delivery date.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any other questions
Before the new year 2017, we finally received all the parts for the final production. Everyone at Hult was very excited to ship Pavilion out soon, but when we had outgoing quality control for the first assembled Pavilion, the sound performance was not the same as the performance during the R&D stage.
We are excited to see our parts coming to life but at the same time we have an unpleasant update to share. We regret to inform everyone that we have to postpone the shipment to November. We sincerely apologize for the shipment delay of the product.
We are almost there with the tooling modification and we have kicked off the concrete base production. Our engineer is at the tubing factory preparing the machine to produce copper spiral. Here are some new updates on the Pavilion production.
